1) Ecosystem introduction

Source: https://docs.penpiexyz.io/penpie-ecosystem/introduction

Selected excerpts from the official docs:

Penpie is a DeFi platform providing Yield enhancement services for Pendle users, built by Magpie upon the foundation of Pendle Finance.

Penpie brings a solution that supports Pendle Finance to maximize its long-term value.

For PENDLE holders: Penpie offers the opportunity to earn substantial yields by converting governance tokens (PENDLE) into mPENDLE.

When users convert their PENDLE into mPENDLE, Penpie automatically locks the converted PENDLE as vePENDLE within Pendle Finance.

For liquidity providers: Thanks to Penpie’s vePENDLE holdings, liquidity providers can deposit their assets on the platform and earn boosted PENDLE without having to lock any PENDLE as vePENDLE themselves.

For governance participants: The voting power accumulated by Penpie through its vePENDLE holdings is shared among vlPNP holders.

Users must wait 60 days for their locked PNP to be fully unlocked.

Additional signals from the source:

  • This page makes Penpie’s control surface explicit: it aggregates long-duration vePENDLE, then resells the resulting rewards, boosts, and governance access through wrapper tokens.
  • The combination of mPENDLE for depositors and vlPNP for governance participants shows Penpie is not just a frontend for Pendle; it is a meta-layer that re-bundles underlying rights into a new internal stack.

2) Vote-Locked PNP docs

Source: https://docs.penpiexyz.io/tokens/pnp-token/vote-locked-pnp

Selected excerpts from the official docs:

Vote-Locked PNP is the locked version of PNP. The governance power that Penpie has acquired by locking PENDLE on Pendle Finance is shared and controlled by vlPNP holders.

Users interested in participating in Pendle Finance’s governance can acquire voting power cost-effectively through PNP.

vlPNP service has been consolidated to the Arbitrum network.

Once PNP is locked, it is in lock state indefinitely.

Users must “Start Unlock” to start 60 day unlock period known as “Cool Down”.

Users can “Force Unlock” to unlock their vlPNP before 60 days by paying a penalty fee.

On day 1, penalty cost is 80% of the total PNP tokens locked by the user and will decrease non-linearly over time.

Additional signals from the source:

  • Penpie is explicitly selling shorter-duration access to a longer-duration governance position: Penpie’s own vePENDLE is locked for the full Pendle horizon, while users access shared governance through vlPNP with a different unlock profile.
  • The unlock penalty and cooldown design suggest Penpie is managing governance stickiness as an internal policy layer, not merely passing through Pendle’s native rules.

3) Cost-effective voting power page

Source: https://docs.penpiexyz.io/penpie-maximizing-benefits/cost-effective-voting-power-for-pendle-finance-users

Selected excerpts from the official docs:

Pendle Finance voters must buy and lock PENDLE tokens for 2 years to get max voting power, which is not a cost-effective way to control governance power.

Users can lock their PNP tokens as vlPNP to share the voting power that Penpie has accumulated through its vePENDLE holdings.

Each PENDLE that Penpie locks on Pendle Finance is locked for 2 years. This means that all of Penpie’s vePENDLE own the highest benefits on Pendle Finance.

Additional signals from the source:

  • Penpie’s own docs frame the product directly as governance-power intermediation.
  • The phrase “cost-effective voting power” is analytically important because it confirms the protocol’s main job is not creating new governance rights, but packaging access to already-aggregated rights.

4) Voting market docs

Source: https://docs.penpiexyz.io/the-penpie-voting-market

Selected excerpts from the official docs:

Many users and protocols aspire to acquire governance rights within Pendle Finance, but the prerequisite of purchasing and locking PENDLE tokens long-term can be challenging.

To overcome this, they can now acquire and lock PNP tokens as vlPNP for a much shorter period of time.

Penpie created the Penpie Voting Market, enabling vlPNP token holders to influence the emission of PENDLE.

Additional signals from the source:

  • The docs place the voting market at the center of Penpie’s identity, not as a side feature.
  • This makes Penpie a close analogue to Curve/Convex-era governance wrappers, but transplanted into the Pendle ecosystem.

5) Add Voting Incentives guide

Source: https://docs.penpiexyz.io/how-to-use/agency/add-voting-incentives

Selected excerpts from the official docs:

Add Voting Incentives

Select your desired Starting Epoch.

If the selected voting incentive will be divided into multiple epochs, please enter the number of epochs.

In the tutorial, we deposited 1 USDT as a voting incentive for 2 epochs, and 1 USDT has been divided into 2 epochs. In the current epoch, only 0.5 USDT is available for voters.

Additional signals from the source:

  • Penpie exposes an explicit buyer-side interface for bribing or incentive placement, including epoch scheduling and multi-epoch budget splitting.
  • That makes the protocol more than a wrapper around vePENDLE; it is also a marketplace surface for pricing Pendle governance influence.

6) mPENDLE docs and glossary

Sources:

Selected excerpts from the official docs:

mPENDLE refers to “Magpie PENDLE”, is a liquid version of vePENDLE.

Penpie takes all converted PENDLE tokens and locks them on Pendle Finance in order to acquire more vePENDLE.

The process of permanently removing tokens from circulation is known as ‘blackholing’ and cannot be reversed. mPendle can not be converted back to Pendle.

Users can convert PENDLE into mPENDLE on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Bnb Chain and Optimism.

mPENDLE uses layer zero OFT V2 standard.

vlPNP holders control the voting power that Penpie owns on Pendle Finance.

Additional signals from the source:

  • mPENDLE shows Penpie’s governance aggregation is tightly linked to a liquid-wrapper business model: user PENDLE becomes permanently locked protocol-owned vePENDLE while the user receives a different tradable claim.
  • The docs also show Penpie is multichain at the wrapper-token layer even while the vlPNP governance service is concentrated on Arbitrum.

Notes

  • Penpie appears best cataloged as a Pendle meta-governance wrapper / liquid-locker protocol / vote-incentive routing layer.
  • The strongest sources were the introduction, vlPNP, voting-power, voting-market, and mPENDLE docs.
  • No canonical standalone whitepaper or litepaper surfaced in this pass.
