Notes

  • JokeRace cleared the bar because it is not just another governance frontend or grants app. The contracts expose a distinct contest-control plane: prompt design, submission permissions, queue/active/completed timing, rank tracking, vote pricing, reward routing, and module attachment.
  • The official codebase makes ranking policy analytically important. GovernorSorting is not a cosmetic helper; it defines how contest outcomes are maintained under rank limits and tie behavior, which means deployment parameters materially shape what counts as a winner.
  • The current Governor contract also shows JokeRace has evolved into a vote-priced market rather than simple free polling. costToVote, percentageToRewards, priceCurveType, multiple, and creatorSplitEnabled make payment and persuasion part of the contest primitive itself.
  • _distributeCost() is especially revealing because it routes some payment to the rewards pool while the rest flows to JK Labs and optionally the contest creator. This is a strong sign that the protocol is simultaneously a governance interface and a monetized incentive-routing layer.
  • The VoterRewardsModule matters because it pushes the design beyond winner-only payout. Rewards can be assigned to rankings and then released proportionally to voters who backed those rankings, which makes JokeRace a useful comparison point for persuasion markets and vote-and-earn systems, not only contests.
  • Cancellation logic exposes non-obvious authority. Creators retain early cancellation power, while JK Labs retains delayed cancellation / withdrawal roles over modules. The meaningful governance question is therefore not just who won the contest? but also who can stop, redirect, or unwind the incentive plumbing?
  • The live site itself was referenced from the repo, but the official web surface was not fetch-readable in this pass. The repository and contracts were therefore the decisive primary materials.
